In Civil War "What If..."
Our most recent episode was aboot Wilson's Creek. In our Facebook Live today, it came up "what if Lyon hadn't been killed?". My thoughts (opinion NOT fact)... I think if Lyon had survived the battle, Missouri would have secceded. He was the reason why some men ended up joining the Missouri State Guard because of his actions at Camp Jackson. These were men that had been moderate before & Lyon's actions/his radical views, finally made them say "F- - - this!".Given how he was, I'm sure his aggression would have continued and this could have changed the game in regards to the Civil War. What do y'all think?

There's a new category on the forum - Civil War Navy! Thanks to Jonathan for the suggestion! I know we have a few Civil War Navy nerds on here and the navy often gets neglected when it comes to the Civil War. Definitely looking forward to seeing what gets discussed over there.

In Eastern Theatre
Just curious. Who is your favourite Eastern Theatre Commander? And let's go Union and Confederate on this. For me... Union: General George Gordon Meade. People either love him or hate him. I've always had a lot of respect for him and especially so after reading "Searching For George Gordon Meade" by Tom Huntington. I believe he was the exact commander they needed for Gettsyburg. He knew how to delegate, which I believe is something that shows how strong of a leader he was. Also - the fact he swears like crazy is something I love aboot him. If y'all have listened to our podcasts, you know why. Confederate: General James Johnston Pettigrew. The "James Bond" of the Civil War, as I call him (1) he was played by George Lazenby of "I starred in 1 Bond film" fame in the movie "Gettysburg" and (2) he never married, is someone who I find very interesting. One of the three on the PETTIGREW PICKETT TRIMBLE charge, he was a rising star in the eastern theatre at the time he was killed not long after Gettysburg. In a few ways, I see him as being a lot like Cleburne. I think after the Civil War (yup - playing the What If game here...), he would have been a lot like Longstreet and Mosby and tried to help piece the country back together. Pettigrew gets left behind and I think his is a story that needs to be told more.

Hey y'all! So, I added a couple new additions to the forum! We now have a "What if..." Civil War category because I think many of us enjoy that. I also added one for Civil War memes just to keep those separate from the Civil War pics. Hope y'all are enjoying the forum! I know Darin and I very much are! Happy Saturday! :)

If you don't feel comfortable disclosing this, no worries! I know we are scattered over a few different places (including overseas!). I'm from Canada, in the province of Ontario. I've lived here my whole life but I've always been into the Civil War. Don't ask me aboot Canadian history, because unless it has something to do with the Civil War, I admittedly don't know much! -Mare :)
